Fashion for the sun

In December 2001, the Home Economics Institute of Australia published the resource Fashion for the Sun. Copies were distributed through many divisions late December, early January 2002. The resource provides great examples for units of work and learning experiences that enable students to demonstrate student learning outcomes from two key learning areas - Health and Physical Education and Technology.

Fashion for the Sun was developed to provide schools with support materials to provide a curriculum that promotes clothing as sun protection.

Approximately 1200 Australians die of skin cancer each year. An estimated one out of every two people who grow up in

Australia are likely to develop some form of skin cancer. Children and adolescents particularly, are at great risk of damaging their skin through sun exposure.
