Membership forms and information

Most of our members fall into the following categories:

  • home economics educators
  • home economists working in business, industry and health
  • home economics students.

Members:
Membership is open to those who have successfully completed a course of study at a minimum of Certificate Level IV or equivalent, (according to the Australian Qualifications Framework) in a home economics or related area. Members have voting rights at general meetings.

Associates:
Associate membership is available to those who have successfully completed a course of study in home economics at a level less than Certificate IV (according to the Australian Qualifications Framework) and/or work in an area related to home economics. Associates have no voting rights.

Students:
Student memberships are available to those enrolled in home economics or related areas at post secondary education institutions. Student members have no voting rights at nationally convened general or Council meetings. Voting rights at Divisional metings are determined by the Division.

School Memberships:
School membership is available for a maximum of six members of any one primary or secondary school or college or TAFE campus. School members need to register with HEIA to receive membership benefits.

Overseas members:
Overseas membersnare welcomed; all members residing outside of Australia are invited to nominate a Division to which they would like to be linked. They have full voting rights.

Concessional subscriptions are available to members and associates not in paid employment, and to students. Details are available from the Treasurer, or from Divisional Council delegates.

Membership year

  • If membership is received 1 November - 30 April, membership year is 1 January - 31 December.
  • If membership is received 1 May - 31 October, membership year is 1 July - 30 June of next year.
  • IFHE membership fees are due 28th February.
