AWARD for PTC 2007
On Tuesday 11th December 2007, Dr Louise Du Vernet was presented with an award by Minister Della Bosca on behalf of the Professional Teachers Council of NSW for outstanding service to a professional organisation - none other than our own HEIA (NSW). Congratulations to Louise.

2007 High Achiever Award
November 28th members of HEIA (NSW) gathered to share in a wonderful evening celebrating the presentation of our latest bi-ennial high achiever award to Jill Cooney from Veronica Cuskelly. Members shared a fantastic dining experience at the "Ultimate" dining room within the very modern facilities at Ultimo Campus of TAFE.

HEIA President Sneza Stamenkovic presents TAFE graduate Shuyan Zhang with her award for the highest mark achieved within NSW from her results in the TAFE Health Services Certificate.

Margaret Bamford Lecture 2007
Wednesday 28th November, Dr Louise Duvernet presented members with a facinating report on her recent study tour to visit with the MAPUCHE people of Chile. Louise will include a full report of her tour in the next HEIA newsletter ....so look out for the next edition.


Excellence in Teaching Award
Each year the Executive of HEIA (NSW) is proud to promote excellence in teaching in Home Economics or related fields. Applicants must address the following criteria:

  • Must be an individual member of HEIA or belong to a school with Corporate Membership;
  • Must demonstrate outstanding innovation in teaching and learning strategies in the classroom;
  • Must have positively promoted to students the ideas and principles that underpin the Mission, Vision and Objectives of HEIA.

Applications, no longer than three pages, on the attached form must be received by HEIA (NSW), PO Box 826, Seven Hills NSW 2147, by 30 October of the current year. Curriculum Vitae’s to be attached to support each application. Members of HEIA (NSW) executive will make the final decision for announcement at an awards evening held in November each year. This award consists of $1000 cash and a Certificate of Recognition.
