Please Note: This is a series of 4 and it is expected that participants will attend all sessions

This session is a repeat of the highly regarded 2008, 4 session Food Science and Technology (FS&T) professional development provided by Dr Amanda Devine, Edith Cowan University. The content directly relates to each stage of the Nature of food and Food in society content. At each session, participants will relate the selected content to the requirements of the identified unit.
In the second half of 2009, providing that there is the demand, HEIA WA will facilitate FS&T course unit writing sessions so attendance at all four sessions of this professional development will prepare teachers for higher unit writing.
While the professional development sessions specifically relate to the Food Science and Technology course the content covered will inform what is taught in years 8-10.
Dr Devine is Senior Lecturer in the School of Biomedical Sports and Science, nutrition program, Edith Cowan University. Her research is in the area of bone and calcium disorders. She is also Chair of Nutrition Australia, WA Division and a member of the Food Science and Technology, Assessment, Review and Moderation Panel (ARM).
