All about OLIVES

Learn all about olives in two consecutive sessions. Stan will identify the various types of olives and how their sensory/physical characteristics change with processing. The nutritional value of olives; why some oils are better for you than others; and the impact of a Mediterranean diet will be discussed. Stan will then demonstrate various olive pickling techniques you can try later in the classroom. These workshops are a thorough investigation of a food commodity and the knowledge gained could easily be incorporated into a lower and upper school foods courses.
