The ASISTM (Australian School Innovation in Science Technology and Mathematics) project was funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations as part of the Boosting Innovation in Science, Technology and Mathematics Teaching Programme.

The Western Australian Division of the Home Economics Institute of Australia and the Project Management Team sincerely thanks all staff representing each institution/organisation involved in the Division's Innovative Food Design through Food Science understandings ASISTM project for the contribution they made.

Schools and Colleges
The following schools and colleges were involved:
Belridge Senior High School
Darling Range Sports College
Emmanuel Catholic College
Churchlands Senior High School
John Septimus Rowe Anglican Community School
Methodist Ladies' College
Newman College
Perth Modern School
Shenton College
St Stephen's School.

Curtin University of Technology Health Sciences
In 2008, the project included two semesters of laboratory-based 'hands-on' professional development about food science and nutrition. Curtin University has undertaken to offer short courses of laboratory-based professional development to other interested home economics teachers.

Curtin University Health Sciences also fulfilled the project-required Teacher Associate strategy by furthering participating school students' understanding of the Western Australian food industry and scientific understandings that underpin food technology developments.

The Division's additional contribution
The Western Australian Division provided food industry visits and complementary nutrition education professional development.

Sample units
The production of school or college appropriate sample units to support the implementation of the Curriculum Council Food Science and Technology Course was an essential component of the project.

The project was supported by the Western Australian Curriculum Council, the Department of Education and Training, the Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia and the Catholic Education Office.
