HEIA submission - national food plan

Sunday, 25 September 2011 10:00

HEIA has submitted this issues paper in relation to the development of a National Food Plan.  Food supply issues are of particular interest to the home economics profession as access to nutritious, safe and affordable food is central to the health and wellbeing of the population. As highlighted in the issues paper, a potential benefit of a food plan is a more affordable and nutritious food supply and this would indeed be a beneficial outcome to support population health.

This is an Australian Government commitment to integrate food policy by looking at the whole food supply chain, to protect Australia's food security, and to deveop a strategy to maximise food production opportunities.
