Exploring indigenous foods: Unlocking the potential of native Australian crops

Presenter: Julie Merlet, NATIF

Join us for an inspirational webinar led by Julie Merlet, nutritionist and wellness consultant from NATIF (Native, Australian, Traditional, Indigenous Foods), as we explore the world of indigenous foods. Julie will share her insights into Australian native crops, discussing the expertise and practices of growers, the challenges of wild harvesting, and ongoing research uncovering new possibilities for these foods.

This session is designed for both teachers and non-teachers. Julie will present research on indigenous foods, highlighting that only a small percentage of these ingredients are grown commercially and the potential for expanding their market. She will explore products, ways to incorporate them into modern diets, and their impact on harvests. We will also cover student-friendly options and discuss how the education portal serves as a valuable resource for teachers.
