On Saturday 22 March, the sweet smell of strawberries and fresh-baked pies filled the air at Beerenberg Farm in the stunning Adelaide Hills, where HEIA(SA) hosted a delightful celebration for World Home Economics Day – and what a day it was!

The spotlight shone bright on our 2025 King and O’Malley Trust scholars – Amelia Scott, Sarah Bosboom, and Elena Coulls (who couldn’t be there in person but was definitely there in spirit!) These inspiring young women were officially presented with their certificates by HEIA(SA) assessment panel representative Renee Hutton and the schools representative Rachel Schubert – cue the proud smiles and happy snaps!

Attendees were treated to thoughtful reflections from both Amelia and Sarah, who spoke about their passion for the field of home economics and how the scholarship support will help support their studies and future goals. There was plenty of applause – these scholars are going places!

After the formalities, it was time for a little fun (and a lot of strawberries). Scholars and HEIA(SA) members rolled up their sleeves for some pie making magic, followed by a stroll through the fields to handpick some of Beerenberg’s juiciest berries. The day wrapped up with warm chats, shared stories, and lots of laughs – the perfect recipe for connection and community. Thanks to everyone who joined in – and to our scholars, we can't wait to see where your journey in Home Economics takes you next.
