2025 World Home Economics Day webinar
Presenters: Sandy Smith, HEIA(WA) and International Federation for Home Economics (IFHE) Pacific Region representative and Sarah Wirth IFHE’s Region Pacific Vice-President
Note: this session is free for all participants
Find out how home economics can play a pivotal role in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12 and building a sustainable future for all.
The theme for World Home Economics Day, ‘Tackling overconsumption,’ aligns with SDG 12: ‘Responsible consumption and production’. Our current consumption patterns are unsustainable, contributing to health issues, climate change, and environmental degradation. It is time for change, and home economics can lead the way, particularly in addressing food, housing, and travel.
Join Sandy Smith and Sarah Wirth as they explore how home economics empowers individuals and communities to make sustainable choices, improving quality of life without sacrifice.
Sarah will also share the news and planning for Wellington's hosting of the World Congress of the International Federation for Home Economics (IFHE) in 2028, an exciting event that marks the first time the congress will be held in New Zealand. The congress will bring together experts, professionals, and leaders from around the world to discuss key issues in home economics, sustainability, and global education.
