Welcome to our website

The Home Economics Institute of Australia Inc. (HEIA) is the peak professional body for home economists in Australia. HEIA advocates for the interests of professionals working in education, industry, community health, consumer affairs and family and household management. We inform and educate both members and the broader community about the vital role of home economics in modern life. Through a range of resources, professional development opportunities, and events, HEIA supports the growth of home economics education and practice. We also work to influence policy and raise awareness, advocating for the recognition and advancement of home economics across Australia.

We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and celebrate the stories, culture, and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders from all communities who also live, learn and work on this land.
